Angus Glen Golf Club
Located in the town of Markham on Kennedy Road, north of Major Mackenzie Drive is the Angus Glen Golf Club. The stunning beauty and spacious golf course garnered several awards for years, making it a popular choice among local and foreign guests.
History
Originally named Angus Glen Farm, it was built as a farm for raising Black Aberdeen Angus Cattle. It was owned by Arthur Stollery, a wealthy businessman who bought the 1800 acres land in 1957. After several years, they began breeding thoroughbred race horses, which succeeded in many local and international races. In 1992, some parts of the farmland were developed into a golf course. It wasn’t completed until 1994 when its founder, Arthur Stollery, died. His family continued the construction of the golf course, and was completed in 1995. It became known as the Best New Course in Canada after it was featured on the same year at Golf Digest magazine. The following year, Arthur’s son, Gordon Stollery, built a community around Angus Glen Golf Club. He acquired Kylemore homes and continued his father’s plans for the land.
Awards
Angus Glen Golf Club is also an award-winning golf course. It received multiple awards for years from different organizations which includes Best Golf Couse (1996), Best Service at a Public Facility (2000), Best Course (2001), Best Service (2001), Best Practice Facility in the GTA (2012), and a lot more.
Membership
The Angus Glen Golf Club is open to the public through the entire golf season. Rental clubs are available, which includes top brands, including Nike. However, many regular golfers opt for membership for more benefits. They get member-exclusive privileges such as invites for golf club special events and tournaments, premium twilight rates, discounts at the pro shop and many more.
Golf Lessons
Angus Glen Golf Club also offers golf lessons. They have established an academy for adult and for junior golfers. For adult learners, they have introductory lessons every spring, summer, and fall. Ladies introduction to golf, as well as Intermediate Golf school, are also offered for $ 239 per person. Golf Improvement School have sessions on spring and summer, and costs $ 319 per person, while Spring Kick-off Half-Day Golf School and Mid-season Tune-up Half-day School costs $ 169 per person. For Junior Academy, they have monthly programs with 1 lesson per week from May to October. Students are grouped according to age and lessons cost $ 120. Their half-day camps cost $ 339 per student, while whole day camps cost $ 669. They also offer private lessons at a different rate.

The Silo Grill Restaurant is the only dining option at Angus Golf Club. But its wide range of food choices is enough to satisfy its guests. Their Breakfast Menu which is available until 11 am serves sandwiches, omelet, bacons, pancakes, and toast. The Brunch menu, consist of Chicken and Waffles, Korean BBQ and Egg Burger, and Smoked Salmon and Biscuit stack, is available from 11 am to 4 pm. Their Silo Menu offers a complete meal, from starters, salad, soup, entrees, and handheld. Their best-sellers include Smoked Chicken Penne, Angus Beef New York Striploin, and Spaghetti & Meatballs.
